About Greg
Greg Ziel has been married to Angela Ziel for 30 years. They have two kids, Megan who is a school teacher with Aiken County Public Schools and Greg Jr. who is a production tech with Grey News in Bangor, Maine. Greg retired from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) as a Sergeant in July 2015, after 22 years of service. After retirement Greg finished up his degree, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from California State University of Fresno.
Greg volunteered in many ministries at his previous church which eventually led to him joining the staff of Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas, Nevada as Director of Ministries. Greg became a licensed Pastor and a Chaplain for LVMPD. Greg served as a Chaplain during the Route 91 Country Festival mass shooting, and he helped several first responders struggling with trauma. Greg suffers from PTSD from an officer involved shooting he was involved in during his time on LVMPD. This has allowed him opportunities to share his personal story and testimony and work with first responders and military personnel with similar struggles.
In October of 2020, Greg and Angela visited Aiken, SC and their first stop was to attend church service at Cedar Creek Church, Banks Mill Campus. They were immediately met by Pastor Phillip Lee. During their visit they were invited to attend a Home Group and later joined that Home Group. They purchased a house on this visit and moved to Aiken, SC in December of 2020. They both immediately got involved with serving at Cedar Creek Church in the Guest Services area and you can still find them opening doors and welcoming people in.
Greg felt a calling and nudge from God to step into the roll of Deacon at Cedar Creek Church and he volunteered for this ministry in February of 2023. Greg and Angela felt led by God to move to Aiken and they have started a local educational nonprofit called LEARN Aiken Foundation which pairs rescued miniature horses with elementary kids to help them improve their literacy skills.
