Worship – Part 3 – Wholly Worship

August 4, 2024

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength…Love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:30-31(NIV)

  1. Head and hands, but no heart.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence” Matthew 23:25-26 (NIV)

“The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. So practice and obey whatever they tell you…” Matthew 23:2-3 (NLT)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

2. Heart and hands, but no head.

“Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.’” Matthew 16:23 (NIV)

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23 (NIV)

3. Head and heart, but no hands.

“As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. ‘Good teacher,’ he asked, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’” Mark 10:17 (NIV)

“At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.” Mark 10:22 (NIV)

Reminder: Baptism is next Sunday!
