Living in Hope
The Thrill of Hope – Part 3
Hope is not wishful thinking, blind optimism, or ambitious dreams.
“…In (God’s) great mercy he has given us new birth into a LIVING HOPE through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is FAITHFUL.” Hebrew 10:23 (NIV)
Living in Hope Means…
…my past doesn’t define me.
“Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentation 3:21-23 (NLT)
“If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; EVERYTHING is made new!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NCV)
…my fear and anxiety don’t control me.
“Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified.” Luke 2:9 (NLT)
“The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things THEY had heard and seen…” Luke 2:20 (NIV)
…my future is secured.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a FUTURE and a HOPE.’” Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
“…but I (Jesus) came to give life—life in all its fullness.” John 10:10 (NCV)
“Being made right with God by his grace, we could have the HOPE of receiving the life that NEVER ENDS.” Titus 3:7 (NCV)
