Supernatural Part 2 | The Holy Spirit | Phillip Lee

The Holy Spirit

Supernatural – Part 2

“…I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept HIM, because it neither sees HIM nor knows HIM. But you know HIM, for HE lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 (NIV)

“But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.” John 16:7 (NLT)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…” Acts 1:8a (NIV)

The Holy Spirit gives me power to…

know and do God’s will.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13 (NIV)

…live a holy life.

“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Romans 8:5 (NIV)

“…let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” Galatians 5:16 (NLT)

…make a difference.

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)

How to Let the Holy Spirit Fill Your Life

1) Desire to be filled.

“…Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink…Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ By this he meant the Spirit…”John 7:37-39 (NIV)

2) Repent of your sins.

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV)

3) Yield yourself to God.

“…If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” Mark 8:34 (NET)

4) Trust God’s promises.)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
