No Greater Love Week 4 | Phillip Lee
Sacrificing in Uncertainty
No Greater Love – Part 4
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 (NLT)
“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Matthew 16:25 (NLT)
Finding the Blessing in the Brokenness
(Ruth and Naomi)
1. Commit to focusing on others.
“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’” Ruth 1:16 (NIV)
2. Trust God’s timing.
“So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.” Ruth 1:22 (NIV)
3. Do what I can.
“The overseer replied, ‘She is the Moabite who came back from Moab with Naomi… She came into the field and has remained here from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.’” Ruth 2:6-7 (NIV)
4. Be willing to take a risk.
“‘Who are you?’ he asked. ‘I am your servant Ruth,’ she said. ‘Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian-redeemer of our family.’” Ruth 3:9 (NIV)
“And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.” Ruth 3:11 (NIV)
5. Watch God work.
“So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife…the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.” Ruth 4:13 (NIV)
“And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.” Ruth 4:16 (NIV)
