Jesus in the Miracles – Part 3 – The Ultimate Miracle

March 24, 2024

“…Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Hebrews 9:15 (NIV)

“When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, ‘I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.’ After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, ‘Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes. And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’” Luke 22:14-20 (NIV)

The Lord’s Supper…

(1 Corinthians 11:17-34)

1. …promotes and reflects unity within the church family.

“In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.” vs. 18 (NIV)

“Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we ALL SHARE the one loaf.” 1 Corinthians 10:17 (NIV)

2. …is a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice for us.

“…This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me…This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” vs. 24-25 (NIV)

3. …is an opportunity for self-examination.

“Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.” vs. 28 (NIV)
