Jesus in the Miracles – Part 2 – Healing Two Daughters

March 17, 2024

“Jesus performed many other SIGNS in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that YOU MAY BELIEVE that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may HAVE LIFE in his name.” John 20:30-31 (NIV)

(Matthew 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-43; Luke 8:40-56)

Jesus is…

1) …approachable for all.

“Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.” Mark 5:22 (NLT)

“When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak.” Mark 5:27 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

2) …responsive to our desperation and our faith.

“Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.” Luke 8:41-42 (NIV)

“Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.” Matthew 9:19 (NIV)

“She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.” Mark 5:26 (NIV)

“Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet…” Luke 8:47 (NIV)

3) …able to fully restore us.

“Then he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.’” Luke 8:48 (NIV)

“…he took her by the hand and said, ‘My child, get up!’ Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.” Luke 8:54-55 (NIV)

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade…” 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)
