Impact Part 1: Compassion

September 8, 2024

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had COMPASSION on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Matthew 9:35-36 (NIV)

True missional compassion…

…starts with moving towards people.

“Jesus WENT through all the towns and villages…” vs. 35a (NIV)

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15 (NIV)

…means not looking away.

“When he SAW the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” vs. 36 (NIV)

…responds with hope and help.

“…teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.” vs. 35b (NIV)

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
