Jesus in the Miracles – Part 1 – More than Magic

March 10, 2024

“Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:30-31 (NIV)

1) Jesus Calms the Storm Jesus

Matt. 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-4; & Luke 8:22-25

2) Heals on the Sabbath

Matt. 12:9-13; Mark 3:1-6;  & Luke 6:6-11

3) Jesus Raises Lazarus from the Dead

 Matt. 12:9-13; Mark 3:1-6 John 11:1-44

Jesus is…

1) …not just from God, He is God.

The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!’” Matthew 8:27 (NIV)

“Then Jesus said to them, ‘The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.’” Luke 6:5 (NIV)

“…I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die…” John 11:25 (NIV)

2) …always right on time.

“If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep!” Matthew 12:11-12 (NIV)

“So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days.” John 11:6 (NIV)

“So then he told them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe…” John 11:14 (NIV)

Mark 4:38 “…The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?’”

3) …full of compassion.

“(Jesus) said to the man with the shriveled hand, ‘Get up and stand in front of everyone.’ So he got up and stood there.” Luke 6:8 (NIV)

“…He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.” Luke 8:24 (NIV)

“When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled… Jesus wept.” John 11:33-35 (NIV)
