Carefrontation

March 3, 2024

“Instead, speaking the TRUTH IN LOVE, we will GROW to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” Ephesians 4:15 (NIV)

“Love does not delight evil but rejoices with THE TRUTH.” 1 Corinthians 13:6 (NIV)

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?…You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, AND THEN you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:3, 5 (NIV)

“In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery.” Proverbs 28:23 (NLT)

How to Carefront Those Close to Us

(2 Samuel 12)

 1) Be clear about the issue.

“…the thing David had done displeased the Lord .” 2 Samuel 11:27 (NIV)

Is it unbiblical, unwise, or unimportant?

2) Make sure you’re the right person.

“The Lord sent Nathan to David…” vs. 1a (NIV)

3 R’s of Carefrontations: Relationship Reluctant Reciprocal

3) Go in person and in private.

“…When he CAME TO him, he said…” vs. 1b (NIV)

Homework: Read Matthew 18:15-20

4) Be gentle and wise. (vs.2-4)

“…if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should GENTLY and HUMBLY help that person back onto the right path…” Galatians 6:1 (NLT)

5) Hang in there with them.

“Then David confessed to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’ Nathan replied, ‘Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.’” vs. 13 (NLT)

“My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.” James 5:19-20 (NLT)
