Awake and Alive – Part 1 – Beliefs and Behaviors
June 2, 2024
“The aim of our charge is LOVE that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”1 Timothy 1:5 (ESV)
1) The law has limits.
“Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient…” 1 Timothy 1:8-9 (ESV)
2) Only the Gospel can change hearts.
“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was SHOWN MERCY because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was POURED OUT on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 1:13-14 (NIV)
“But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.” Romans 7:6 (NLT)
“…Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:23 (NIV)
3) Live out the Gospel for others to see.
“…that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:2-3 (NIV)
“Watch your LIFE and DOCTRINE closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.” 1 Timothy 4:16 (NIV)
