Navigating Family – Part 3
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” Psalm 133:1 (ESV)
How to Manage Family Conflict
- Recognize the source.
“What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from YOUR desires that battle WITHIN YOU?” vs. 1 (NIV)
“You desire but do not have…” vs. 2a (NIV)
- Switch strategies.
“…so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.” vs. 2b (NIV)
Failed Strategies:
- Slander and Gossip
- Seeking the wrong source
“…You do not have because you do not ask God.” vs. 2c (NIV)
- Selfish asking
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” vs. 3 (NIV)
- Look inward and forward instead of backwards
If you have been with us for the past few months and are ready to commit to Membership at Cedar Creek Church, you can do so here. If you were already a member of Cedar Creek we invite you to see this as a spiritual practice, much like renewing your faith, and recommit with the mission of Cedar Creek to help people find their way back to God. If you signed the Membership Covenant in the past two weeks, it has been received. We can’t wait to journey with you!
