Everlasting Father

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

“…Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father… The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” John 14:9-10 (NIV)

God is…

…a caring and compassionate Father.

“A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, DON’T YOU CARE if we drown?” Mark 4:37-38 (NIV)

“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’  Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4:39 (NIV)

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem…how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings…”  Matthew 23:37 (NIV)

…a consistent Father.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

“If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.” 2 Timothy 2:13 (NLT)

“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him…” 2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV)

…a close Father.

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). Matthew 1:23 (NIV)

“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven…” Matthew 6:9 (NIV)

“But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.’ And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.” Matthew 19:14 (NLT)

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
