Experiencing the Gift – The Gift of Enough – Part 2
Experiencing the Gift
The Gift of Enough
Part 2
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” John 1:1,14 (NIV)
How to Experience the Gift of Enough
(Luke 2:21-38)
1) Have the right expectations.
“At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was EAGERLY WAITING for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel…” vs. 25 (NLT)
“Now, Lord, you can let me, your servant, die in peace as you said. With my own eyes I have seen your salvation…” vs. 29-30 (NCV)
“…Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you… EVERYONE who searches will find. And EVERYONE who knocks will have the door opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)
2) Embrace Jesus in my pain.
“…Anna was very old. She had once been married for seven years. Then her husband died, and she was a widow for eighty-four years. Anna never left the Temple but worshiped God…” vs. 36-37 (NCV)
“She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began PRAISING GOD…” vs. 38a (NLT)
“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.” Psalm 5:11 (NIV)
3) Share the hope with others.
“…she thanked God and SPOKE ABOUT JESUS to all who were WAITING FOR GOD to free Jerusalem.” vs. 38b (NCV)
“After seeing him, the shepherds TOLD EVERYONE what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.” vs. 17 (NLT)
“I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations…” Luke 2:30-32 (NLT)
