Gather to Grow – Purpose – Part 4
Gather to Grow
Purpose – Part 4
“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to BECOME LIKE HIS SON…
” Romans 8:29a (NLT)
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught…” Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)
Tools for Spiritual Growth
1. God’s Word (Bible)
“…If you ABIDE in My word, you are My DISCIPLES indeed.” John 8:31b (NKJV)
2. Other Believers
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward LOVE and GOOD DEEDS, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…” Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
How:
- We can teach each other.
“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel EACH OTHER with all the wisdom he gives…” Colossians 3:16 (NLT)
- We can provide living examples.
“…Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12b (NLT)
- We can protect each other.
“You must warn each other EVERY DAY, while it is still ‘today,’ so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.” Hebrews 3:13 (NLT)
3. Difficult Life Experiences
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop ENDURANCE. And endurance develops strength of CHARACTER, and character strengthens our CONFIDENT HOPE of salvation.”
Romans 5:3-4 (NLT)
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
2 Corinthians 4:17 (NIV)
“Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life…Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”
Ephesians 4:21-24 (NLT)
