Dealing With Toxic Family – Part 2

Facts:

1) We ALL have toxic family members.

2) All toxic relationships are not equal.

3) When it’s toxic, you MUST act

How to Deal with Toxic Family Relationships

1) Accept my limitations.

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18 (NIV)

2) Learn to forgive my family.

Forgiveness is NOT about them.

“…Remember, the Lord forgave you, so YOU MUST forgive others.” Colossians 3:13 (NLT)

Forgiveness is separate from reconciliation.

3)  Change my thinking.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing THE WAY YOU THINK…” Romans 12:2 (NLT)

God changes me through His Spirit, His Word, and His Family.

4) Rest in God’s love for you.

“And so we KNOW and RELY on the love God has for us…We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:16, 19 (NIV)

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NIV)
