Prayer is Protective – Part 4
“…lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Matthew 6:13 (NIV)
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide A WAY OUT so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
The Path of Escape
1) Identify what makes me vulnerable.
“WATCH and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Matthew 26:41 (NIV)
2) Have a plan.
“Plan carefully what you do, and whatever you do will turn out right. Avoid evil and walk straight ahead. Don’t go one step off the right way.” Proverbs 4:26-27 (GNT)
3) Guard my heart.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for EVERYTHING you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
4) Pray for deliverance.
“…call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:15 (NIV)
5) Turn my attention elsewhere.
“we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
6) Get connected to a few others.
“Two are better than one…If either of them falls down, one can help the other up…Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves…” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NIV)
