Prayer is the Pathway to Freedom – Part 3
“and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…” Luke 11:4 (NIV)
“…let us throw off everything that hinders AND the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1b (NIV)
“If we CONFESS our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 (NIV)
Four “R’s” of Confession
1) Review
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)
2) Repent
“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret…” 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NIV)
3) Receive
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his MERCY, and we will find GRACE to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)
4) Repeat
“When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.” Psalm 32:3 (NLT)
How to Let it Go
“See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God AND that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Hebrews 12:15 (NIV)
1) Leave it God.
“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, ‘I will take revenge; I will pay them back,’ says the Lord.” Romans 12:19 (NLT)
2) Heal it with grace.
“…(God’s) grace is sufficient for you…” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
3) Nail it to the cross.
“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14 (NIV)
