Prayer is Connection and Surrender – Part 1
Prayer might change my circumstances, but it always changes me!
“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, TEACH US TO PRAY…” Luke 11:1 (NIV)
1) Prayer is connecting with God.
“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name…” Luke 11:2a (NKJV)
God is a…
Caring Father
“Cast ALL your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
Consistent Father
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 (NIV)
Competent Father
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:37 (NKJV)
2) Prayer is Surrendering to God
“YOUR kingdom come. YOUR will be done. On earth as it is in heaven.” Luke 11:2b (NKJV)
To surrender I must…
…let go of control.
“Let go of your concerns! Then you will know that I am God. I rule the nations. I rule the earth.” Psalm 46:10 (GW)
…learn to be content.
“…I have LEARNED to be content whatever the circumstances.” Philippians 4:11 (NIV)
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
