Two Men and a Baby | The Thrill of Hope – Part 2

Two Men and a Baby

The Thrill of Hope – Part 2

““…I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a SAVIOR has been born to YOU; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11 (NIV)

Finding Hope in Uncertainty

1) Respond with faith rather than fear.

“…an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife…’” Matthew 1:20 (NIV)

“King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem.” Matthew 2:3 (NLT)

“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.” Matthew 1:24 (NIV)

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

2) Respond with surrender rather than control.

“When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under…” Matthew 2:16 (NIV)

“So the family went and lived in a town called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: ‘He will be called a Nazarene.’” Matthew 2:23 (NLT)

“…we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls…”

Hebrews 6:18-19 (NLT)
