Strength for Christmas | The Thrill of Hope – Part 1
Strength for Christmas
The Thrill of Hope
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel – which means ‘God with us.’” Matthew 1:23 (NIV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us…” John 1:1-2,14 (NIV)
God is a powerful and empowering God.
“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11 (NCV)
I need God’s strength for uncontrollable circumstances, uncooperative people, and unexplainable pain.
To receive God’s strength, I must…
…take ownership of my faith.
“Truly I tell you, if YOU have faith as small as a mustard seed, YOU can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for YOU.” Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
…admit my total need.
“Depend on the Lord and his strength; ALWAYS go to him for help.” 1 Chronicles 16:11 (NCV)
“…So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
…align my life with God’s purposes.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 (NIV)
…act as if I have it already.
“…My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 (NIV)
