Job Title: Grief Group Facilitator (2 – 3 needed)

Ministry: GriefShare, Care & Counseling

Day(s) of the week: Sunday

Time of Day: Afternoon

Time Commitment: Two to three hours per week (when in session)

Start Time: 2:30 – 4:30 pm (Class is from 3:00 – 4:30)

Type – (individual or family-friendly): Individual

Brief Description: 

  • Make contact through email or phone with those who have inquired about the group by way of telephone or email.
  • Provide detailed instructions as to time and location. A few days before the meeting, send an email for confirmation.
  • Arrive one-half hour early.  Check set up of the room, pens and tissues within reach of each person, lights on, fan and temp at the correct setting, and water available.
  • Check video equipment to make sure it is operational (instruction book provided).
  • Play the DVD-based video. Lead the discussion via questions from the leader’s guide.
  • Close the meeting with prayer.
  • Be trainable in the use of the internet to help prospects register for the group online.

 

Requirements:  Complete the online training for new Group Facilitators.  Be a Christ-follower. Possess compassion, empathy, and patience. Be a good listener. Ability to follow written instructions to operate TV, DVD player, and Internet.

Gifts/Skills Desired: 

Have a calm nature, and be able to sit with others in their sorrow and grief. Trustworthiness and ability to maintain confidentiality.  Friendlines and kindness.  If you have experience in having lost an immediate family member, this is an opportunity to put your grief experience to work for others. If you have attended GriefShare or a similar Christian-oriented grief support group, this is a bonus.
