Women of the Bible – Part 1 – Where Faith Leads
May 12, 2024
Faith leads me to…
1) …confusion and questions.
“Gabriel appeared to her and said, ‘Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!’ CONFUSED and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean.” Luke 1:28-29 (NLT)
“Mary asked the angel, ‘But how can this happen? I am a virgin.’” Luke 1:34 (NLT)
2) …look in, around, and up.
“…The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you…Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month…I am the Lord’s Servant…” Luke 1:35-38 (NIV)
3) …unexpected problems.
“When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. ‘Get up,’ he said, ‘take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.’” Matthew 2:13 (NIV)
4) …deeper understanding of Jesus.
“‘Why were you searching for me?’ he asked. ‘Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?’” Luke 2:49 (NIV)
“When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘They have no more wine.’” John 2:3 (NIV)
5) …a broken heart and a higher purpose.
“Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother…” John 19:25 (NIV)
“They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” Acts 1:14 (NIV)
