A Wise Response

The Gift of Enough

Part 3

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

How to Respond to God’s Gift

(Matthew 2:1-12)

1) Seek, Ask, and Move.

“…Magi from the east CAME to Jerusalem and ASKED, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We SAW his star when it rose and HAVE COME to worship him.’” vs. 1-2 (NIV)

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

2) Push through some obstacles.

“When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.” vs. 3 (NIV)

“After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they HAD SEEN when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they SAW THE STAR, they were OVERJOYED.” vs. 9-10 (NIV)

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in HIS WORD I put my HOPE.” Ps. 130:5 (NIV)

3) Worship fully.

“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.”vs. 11a (NIV)

4) Give generously.

“…Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” vs. 11b (NIV)

“From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.” John 1:16 (NLT)
