Purpose – Part 3
“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member BELONGS to all the others.” Romans 12:4-5 (NIV)
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47 (NIV)
Committing to connect…
…requires devotion.
“They DEVOTED themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.vs. 42 (NIV)
…provides support and encouragement.
“All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” vs. 44-45 (NIV)
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
…requires investing in a small group.
“Every day they continued to meet together in the TEMPLE COURTS. They broke bread in THEIR HOMES and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God…” vs. 46-47a (NIV)
“Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those HE WANTED, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might BE WITH HIM…” Mark 3:13-14 (NIV)
…allows us to reach our community.
“…enjoying the favor of ALL the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were BEING SAVED.” vs. 47b (NIV)
