2 Corinthians 5:1-5

Followers of Jesus can often find ourselves in this strange reality of not being “at home.” Even our bodies are temporary and passing away. No, that is not an invitation to run to the Publix bakery and start buying cakes to consume in mass quantities. It is however an invitation to yet again find hope that transcends the temporary.

When life throws curveballs our way, the promise of eternity can shift our focus. It’s like a comforting nudge that says, “Remember your hope is not in these circumstance but in my eternal promise.” Our daily struggles are a part of God’s bigger story; His grand plan to bring redemption and goodness.

Hope is a powerful tool. For the believer it is a great weapon as we combat the schemes of the enemy. He cannot take what Christ has done away. No matter how dark the darkness may seem, we know that Christ and his light will be victorious for eternity. So here is your midweek invitation to thank Jesus, and kick Satan in the teeth!

How does the anticipation of our eternal dwelling shape the way we navigate the challenges of this present life?

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, we thank you for the hope we have in the promise of our eternity. In moments of challenges, help us to fix our eyes on the future you have prepared for us. Grant us the strength to persevere in faith, knowing that our current struggles are temporary, but the glory that awaits us is eternal. Amen.
